The policy-making structure
The National Conference
The supreme organ of the NRM. Determines NRM principles, policies and programmes; builds consensus on major political, economic and social matters; and elects senior leadership including the National Chairperson, Secretary General and Presidential Candidate.
The National Executive Council (NEC)
The standing committee of the National Conference. Initiates and handles policy matters, monitors NRM programme implementation, recommends constitutional amendments, vets candidates for senior positions, and approves the annual budget.
The Central Executive Committee (CEC)
Delivers political leadership, formulates policy for consideration by NEC, oversees daily organisational activities, appoints functionaries, and ensures that all organs of NRM function properly.
The District Conference
The supreme organ of the NRM at the district level. Approves district-level NRM programmes and policies, and provides oversight on the performance of the District Executive Committee.
The Sub-County Conference
The sub-county-level policy organ. Approves sub-county NRM programmes, elects sub-county leadership, and mobilises participation in NRM activities at the sub-county level.
The Parish Conference
The parish-level organ that coordinates NRM activities and policy at the parish level, ensuring grassroots participation in the party's political, economic and social programmes.
The Branch
The basic unit of organisation covering a village or cell area. Coordinates NRM membership, mobilises communities and implements party programmes at the most local level.
The Cell
The smallest and most grassroots unit of the NRM. Comprises all NRM members in a village or immediate community, and forms the foundation of the Movement's organisational structure.
